The latest version of Renishaw’s CARTO software (v4.12) now includes analysis-based data stitch functionality for long axis measurements using the XK10 alignment laser system. The data stitch function in CARTO Explore has been developed to reduce noise on long axis measurements which are often affected by air turbulence. By breaking this measurement down into smaller sections and stitching them together, the environmental effects on each section can be reduced, leading to an increase in the accuracy of the overall measurement. “The XK10 laser is used in demanding environments during machine tool build,” says Dan Throup, Renishaw Senior Product Manager. “Even though the XK10 laser can measure up to 30 meters, our users wanted to improve the measurement performance by capturing data over multiple short sections and stitching them together.” Renishaw's CARTO software, a digital ecosystem for the company's laser calibration products, includes three applications. These are Capture for collecting laser measurement data, Explore for powerful analysis to international standards, and Compensate for quick and easy error correction.
